At a Christmas Party recently, I was discussing my trials and tribulations regarding starting over over with my makeup.  Using natural and organic products is a slippery slope.  Once you become aware of what nasty chemicals lurk in most commercial products, it is hard to go back.

The hardest part for me was parting with my makeup.  Once a devotee of the most expensive and commercially popular brands, I sadly threw it all in the trash.  I may have shed a tear.  I went on EWG and looked at makeup to find brands that were safe.  Holy cannolis some of that stuff didn't work.

Mascara that flaked as soon as I looked at it, foundation that was so thick it felt like mud, eyeliner that did NOT go on no matter what I tried. I was getting frustrated.  Then, somehow, I found Tarte cosmetics.  Actually, I was complaining about my issues to my style maven GF and she suggested it.  Score! Paraben free, lots of yucky stuff free and just what I was looking for!

It seemed to good to be true, so I carried the horde to Sephora to check it out.  The Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara rocked my world.  I hardly missed my previous $20 mascara.  Seriously, it is crazy but that old mascara made me happy.  This new one?  The BOMB.COM.

Next, onto Foundation.  Normally I wear a tinted moisturizer every day and a more heavy duty type for ahem, emergencies.  I freaked out.  It was great and even provided more coverage than I was expecting.  There are not enough emoticons to describe how happy this discovery made me.  Same goes for the Amazonian Clay foundation.  For breakouts, dark circles, and those times when big girl makeup is called for...it is great.

Then, a few months later I got an email (I always join email lists for companies that I like for discounts) that Tarte would be on QVC.  I had been wanting to try eyeliner and some of the newer shadows and what a deal.  It was Christmas in a box.  Shadows, blush, mascara, eyeliner, more things than I could imagine!  I am STILL experimenting with my cache.

I can honestly say I haven't tried one thing that I didn't like.  Really.  After months of trying new, natural products and failing.  This discovery has really made this Stained and sometimes Stylish mama happy!  Even though I have provided the AMAZON links here, you should go to Sephora and try them first.

I'm curious Mamas.  What have you had to give up that broke your heart?  Especially during pregnancy!

Xo,
Christy
