Non-Toxic Skin Care for Tweens

My ten year old has started getting bumpy skin.  They aren't like traditional zits, but definitely some sort of inflammation. She felt embarrassed, so I set out to find some products for her while sticking to my my mission to use less toxic products (that work just as well)!  I am sharing what I have purchased (none of it is sponsored) for Clara.  This post will contain commission based links, and by reading beyond this point you are agreeing to my updated privacy policy (found here).

Tween Skincare

I want my kiddos to have a good skincare routine before they start getting acne.  It is inevitable that they will get some (I had it, and I still get breakouts), but I want to keep it to a minimum by establishing good habits early.  Here is a list of the products I have purchased that are working for Clara.  Her skin is SO much better!

1.  Non-toxic cleanser for tweens

We start with MyChelle Dermaceuticals Cranberry CleanserIt is EWG verified, which means that it has passed pretty rigorous requirements for ingredients.  It has cleanses and exfoliates.

For me, using EWG means one less step in trying to figure out if it is safe for my family to use.  Who has time to research EVERY ingredient?  That's why I rely on EWG and Madesafe to check for me.

2. Witch Hazel Toning Pads

My sister uses these them herself recommended them for Clara. They have both noticed a big improvement. I get them at Whole Foods, but you can buy them on Amazon too.

3. Moisture for Tweens

This is still a search-in-progress. The MyChelle Dermaceuticals Cranberry Cleanser does a good job exfoliating and clarifying, but I still want to be sure that her skin is properly moisturized.  We have been using the facial oil that my husband and I love from Goddess Garden.  It lasts a long time.

That's it! We are keeping tween skincare simple and short right now. Since we started using this regimen, she has had zero bumps on her face.  It is so important for us to vote with our dollars in our personal care products.  By that I mean, if we buy the things that are less toxic, more companies will follow suit.  Pay attention to those labels...transparency is key.

Are there any other products that you would like for me to try, or review?
