Non-Toxic Bath Products for Self Care

With all of this safer at home stuff, my self care has suffered.  It is totally my own fault.  I think I was feeling down, and just stopped doing the small things that make me happy.  Honestly, it took me an embarrassingly long amount of time before I figure it out.  Once I did?  I feel so much more like ME, and better overall.

Non toxic self care essentials
Some of the products that make me happy.

There are a couple of things that just make me feel better every day.  Some of these may resonate with you, so I thought I would share...of course they are all non toxic. LOL.  Your skin is the largest organ on your body, and it will absorb whatever you put onto it.  While throwing everything away to start over isn't reasonable, the next time that you buy some less toxic products.

1. Fancy Soap

I love a fancy bar of soap, and I don't share.  They are available for all skin types with organic ingredients.  Maybe a body wash is your thing?  Whatever you need to do to leave your skin feeling fresh girl!  Oh but I should mention that I found the BEST reusable (you can throw it in the dishwasher) loofah.  I am hooked, and will never use the throw away kind again!  I recently got a press package from Zum Soaps, and I remembered how much I love them!  (I have purchased before.) Generally I love a citrus smell, but the frankincense and myrrh was outstanding.  I understand the wise men gifts now.

2.  Shaving oil

This is a trick I wish I had known sooner. Shaving my legs is a chore, and I have tried a LOT of methods to make it less of a chore.  I have done laser hair removal, so that is essentially the only area that still drives me crazy, but shaving makes me feel less like a Sasquatch.  I mean, ask me again in December when its 99999 degrees below zero in Maryland...

The Nutiva, coconut oil shaving oil has changed my game.  I am no longer super dried out when shaving, and it's certified organic (if that's your thing).  I am not sure why I first tried it, but it is on my subscribe and save now.  The natural oils leave my skin feeling soft! I haven't used it as a makeup remover, but that is an option too.

If you have been following me on Instagram, you know that I have found the holy grail non-toxic nail polish.  It is a system, and you have to do ALL THE THINGS.  But it stays on.  Disclaimer, I am horrible at doing my nails, and this stuff stays on my hands for weeks.  I even go to the pool every day.  Follow the instructions, and you will be good to go.  I know it's not strictly bath, but I store it in the bathroom with my bath products?  I guess it could go on the list with personal care products.  Who knows, but SOPHi is a repurchase...for sure.

4.  Bath Salts

I am not a bubble bath kind of a girl, but if my muscles are sore (or if it's cold in the winter) I love a bath with good bath salts.  There is a company, local to Baltimore that not only employs adults with autism in a sheltered employment situation, but they also make amazing bath products using natural and organic ingredients.

Below is a roundup of all of these things. In the United States, our government allows ingredients that are banned in most developed countries around the world.  Why is this?  It is complicated, but we can vote with our dollars. Stop buying the toxic junk.  It makes me crazy when companies have an entirely different formula in Europe, because they have banned some of the chemicals.  Unfortunately, it is up to us to keep our families safe.  There are resources to help like the EWG!
