Mothers Day Weekend: Awesome!

Seriously, it was a great weekend.  I love busy weekends like this.  Everyone was happy and tired from all of the activities.  Moms, you know what that means...naps.

It started off with a bang.  The Honeybadger had a Mexican-themed Mothers' Day Tea at preschool.  She had been prepping the songs and artwork for a month and, surprisingly, she kept most of it a secret.  It was the stinking cutest thing I have ever seen.  It involved the Mexican Hat Dance (with her tongue out because of the effort, obvi), lots of songs and this...

Yup.  She outed me for sleeping bribery.  It's almost as good as the time she told her teacher (at two years old) that daddy drinks daddy milk, and mommy drinks mommy wine.  Once a Honeybadger...

Saturday was a bit of a bummer because the Honeybadger wasn't feeling well, BUT...it was race day!  Our neighborhood puts on a 1/2 marathon and 5k every year.  Quite a few of my mama friends have been training for months and they did it!  Some of them ran the 5k at two months postpartum and those 13 mile girls?  Hats off.  Seriously. That is some training and dedication!  I (thoughtful friend that I am) made signs and drank mimosas at the race.  You know, for support.  Saturday night, one of the running mamas had a bunch of us over for a bbq.  Tired, sweaty kids, cocktails, friends?  Life doesn't get much better!

Sunday: Mother's Day.  Obligatory breakfast in bed.  I slept in till 7:30 (which was amazing), listened to Daddy feed the kiddos while I happily lazed about, and then we packed the kids off to the National Arboretum.   The Kidlets played while some fabulous friends and I had quiche, cheese, mimosas, and other yummies.  More sweaty, tired kids who napped!

I hope you had a wonderful day too!  My Aunt asked me if this weekend was difficult without my mom. I had to think about that one for a minute and honestly, the answer was no.  For many years it was bitter, then I had my kiddos, and it was bittersweet.  Now?  It's just sweet, and that's just how she would want it.

Xo,

Christy
