Baby Gear Innovations that Will Change Your Life

The JPMA trade show is baby wonderland.  I seriously love playing with all of the new toys, and I mean toys for parents-not for kids. HA! JPMA stands for Juvenile Products Manufacturing Association, and it is a time for brands to share their new products with the folks who will carry them in their stores.  Well, and media people like me. This is the ONLY trade show of its kind because on the last day, they open their doors to the public.  Why is that so great?  It is the only access that regular folks will ever get to the designers, CEO's and marketing reps for basically every brand.  You have a question?  Those are the people that can answer them.  Most of these products are not available just yet, but expect to see them in the next month or so.

Let's start with some of the highlights for me:

1.Diono 

Diono has added a whole bunch of products to their lineup, and it isn't just car seats anymore. (Though they have improved the carseat design by covering the back of the seat.)  Diono has debuted two new strollers.  One [edit: updated link to Traverze Plus], the Traverze, won the JPMA award for innovation!  It is an awesome option for travel, as it folds to a very compact size, and has a handle for easy pulling.  It also comes with its own case to pack it neatly in the overhead bin.

They also have a higher end luxury option, the Quantum:

And baby carriers guys: so many new kinds.  Some of them even have an integrated backpack.  Amazing!

2.  UPPAbaby

UPPAbaby has also debuted the Minu, which will be available in April.  It is a lightweight, compact, easy fold stroller that has the luxurious features that we have come to expect from UPPAbaby.

3.  Jujube

Who doesn't love Jujube?  They have added rose gold hardware to their line (as well as some super cute prints).  I am sorry to say that they are COMPLETELY sold out right now!  I will let you know when it is available, but the new gingham collection is super cute too.

3.  Britax

Britax, the brand that I am using as a booster in my car right now, has unveiled the Cool Flow line.  Why?  Because swamp ass is real, and no kid likes it.  Currently, it is available in all seats from the infant B-Safe to the harness boosters.  I should be getting my hands on it any day, and I will share with you all of the details.  I absolutely love Click-Tight for easy installation, and ALL of my kids (even my 8 year-old) is in a five point harness.  Why?  It is the safest in terms of an accident.

Can we also talk about the new Essentials line by Britax?  Not only do I love the Britax ladies, but they have this new, lower priced option for families.  They understand that not everyone can afford $300 for a car seat, and with their lowest priced seat at $99, they are giving more people the safety features we trust, at a price point that more people can afford.

Lastly, I was very excited to see that they have a lightweight, portable, easy fold stroller that is car seat compatible.  YES!  It is called the B-Mobile.

4.  Chicco

Chicco has a couple of very exciting car seat improvements.  They have a new infant seat that is two stage, which means made for toddlers too.  That's right folks, this car seat should last you until your kiddo is no longer rear facing.  What an unbelievable improvement!  Who wants to spend a zillion dollars on three carseats?!

They also unveiled the MyFit Harness booster.  It is supposed to work for kiddos from 25-100 lbs, and I CANNOT wait to get this thing to review.  It seems super comfy too. At $199-$249,  it has an excellent price point!

Boppy, yes Boppy has a new combinations soft structure/wrap carrier, called the ComfyFit.  It combines the comfortable features of a soft structured carrier, with the softness (and portability of a wrap).  I tried it, and I liked it!

Also nominated for an award is my new Hawaii bag, the weekender by Baby K'tan.  I really like the integrated wet bag, and the cooler pouch.  I think this is a contender for not only the best multiples diaper bag, but travel bag with kiddos!
