10 Pumpkin Patches & Fall Farms in Maryland

homestead farm, you pick pumpkins in maryland, apple picking maryland, butlers orchard pumpkin festival,

My oldest, Clara at Clark's Elioak Farm. It's one of our favorites! She was so tiny...

My son has his birthday on Halloween, so the fall is very special for our family. Every year we look forward to enjoying the brisk weather and experiencing all of the farm fun that Maryland has to offer. Because of my little pumpkin birthday, we have been on a hunt for the best pumpkin patches and fall festivals in Maryland! Because this year is weird, we will also be doing some different things to make it fun without a party. Definitely check before you go because of updated rules. I think next I need to see who has the best pumpkin pie! This post uses commissioned links in order to offer free content, by reading beyond this point you are agreeing to our use of them, and our updated privacy policy found here. I update this post every year, so that it stays current!

Here are a few of our family fall favorites:

1.Weber's Cider Mill Farm -

Whether you are looking for a hay ride and pumpkin patch, or apple-cider and delicious baked goodies at their farm market, Weber's has something for everyone. The fall festivities are in full swing. Just a reminder that you need to purchase your tickets in advance, and online. The idea of cider, slush, and apple cider donuts has me drooling.

2. Clark's Elioak Farm

A family favorite, in Ellicott City, with the Enchanted Forest, pumpkin patch, petting farm, pony rides and fun for the whole family! Your little ones will love the cow trains. While they do not offer free hayrides, you can purchase tickets for all of the extra activates. They even have one day with free face painting! (They also have a Facebook page for more information off season the tractor rides are very fun.) This is also a great place for birthday parties, and saturdays & sundays in the warmer months.

3. Queen Anne Farm

This farm in Mitchellville, Maryland has all the fall festivities! A petting zoo, hayride, pumpkin patch so that you can pick your perfect pumpkin (and pre- picked pumpkins), mums and other fall vegetation are available for purchase. I love buying fresh produce on a farm.

4. Butler's Orchard

This apple orchard, and fall family fun extravaganza, has an annual pumpkin festival. With a variety of free family activities like hayrides, an acre corn maze and giant slides, and others that have an additional fee (like pumpkin launching and Pick Your Own apples), you are sure to find something for everyone to enjoy. Right now they even have pick your own pumpkins available, but check the website for pumpkin picking information before you go. It is also cheaper to buy your tickets online via the website before you go! Kiddos under 24 months old are free.

5. Larriland Farm-

A Howard County favorite for hayrides, a straw maze, apple picking, and pumpkin patching, you can also take a trip through the "boo barn", a not so scary Halloween venture. I highly recommend looking into an evening fall season hay ride, where you can have a bonfire!

6. TLV Tree Farm

TLV is our family's annual place to meet Santa and cut our own tree. They also have a free hayride to the pumpkin patch, and we love it! With different varieties of heirloom pumpkins, the kids really enjoy picking a unique one for the porch. On the website, they have some special days listed like Teddy Bear Day, so be sure to check the website before you go. The only cost is for the huge corn maze and the pumpkins that you purchase for some extra fall fun. Stop in their general store for some really good eggs and frozen meats.

7. Montpelier Farms

Montpelier Farms in Upper Marlboro is a new addition to our list. From pumpkin picking to hayrides, and a massive 7 acre corn maze, they are open through mid November. They also host wine tastings, and birthday parties, so keep that in mind! You can get access to the pumpkin patch without admission to the fall festival, but the festival sounds cool with pedal carts, a flashlight maze, This place sounds amazing with duck races, mining and a ton of other options including that lovely hayride on straw bales.

8. Baugher's-

Baugher's is a fall wonderland. They have a restaurant on site with pit beef and homemade ice cream, but they also have the standard pumpkin patch hayride. A fun addition is another hayride to pick your own apples!

9. Falling Branch Beer-

Just because I love farms...they also happen to have a beer garden...my hubby is going to be happy about that! The beer garden activities look amazing. It seems like they have transitioned to no ice cream and cheese, but please let me know! There isn't exactly pumpkin patching around, just wanted to give the adults another fall option. LOL!

10. Gaver Farm

Gaver Tree is a huge place with animal petting, pumpkin patch and hayride, food, and a ton of fun things for the kids to do (for a fee). The cider slushies sound marvelous to me!

A lot of these places get very crowded on weekends and school days off. My best advice is to go early in the season. As always, please consult the websites (or call) before leaving for the day. Did I miss any that you would add to this list?
