Got Allergies? I tried an Air Purifier, and here are the results...

Allergy season is here, and on top of the COVID concerns, I am freaking out every time I sneeze.  Spring came early, and with a vengeance here in Maryland.  It was awesome when Winix reached out to me to review an air purifier, especially since we can't get to the allergist.  I have been wanting to try one for a long time, so this was absolutely perfect.  This post was sponsored, but all opinions are my own.  By reading beyond this point, you agree to my updated privacy policy, found here.

Winix has a huge variety of air purifiers!

Two of my kiddos, Ry and Belle, are seasonal allergy sufferers.  It is so awful, that we have been doing weekly allergy shots with them for almost a year.  The bad news is that we aren't able to get the shots right now.  The good news is that I have a Winix air purifier to help us get through.

This is the purifier that I have...

It actually looks great in my bedroom!

It is really cool.  About the same size as a large plant pot, it just plugs into any outlet.  When the air quality sensor is triggered, it changes color.  I leave it on auto so that it can sense the air and work as needed.  Once in awhile it will turn yellow, and turn to a higher fan/filtration function.  When it's blue, the air quality is fine.

This one has all the qualities of an air purifier, but also comes with a special pet filter.  It is supposed to filter dander, hair, and odor.  I ran a test, and put it next to the litter box on cleaning day.  It was pretty gross, and I was curious to see if it would sense the odor (or perhaps air quality).  It absolutely did.  It turned orange, and improved the smell by a LOT.

This is why I need the child lock mode.  And it worked so well by the litterbox!

Sleep mode.  As it changes colors, it could be quite disruptive to your sleep cycle.  Thankfully, in the sleep mode the light stays off.  Also, I am thankful for the child mode.  Not so much for the kids, but for the cat (who insists on walking on the top).

After using it for about two weeks, this is what I can report.  My kids are not suffering from a lot of symptoms, and we are not medicating them.  Usually they have terrible red, itchy eyes, a lot of sneezing, and not great sleep.  So far, so good.

Two reasons for a pet air purifier. HA!

We also follow our allergists advice.  After school, or outside play, they shower. We don't store dirty clothes in the room, as they hold a lot of allergens that we can't see.  I have a big laundry sorter in our laundry room.  I'm not totally certain that it helps, but we are trying everything we can!

The folks at Winix offered a 20% off code for anyone who wants to try!  Use the code STAINEDWITHSTYLE20 at checkout.  Let me know if it works!
