I rarely get the opportunity to take a break because we don't have family very closeby. When my sisters-in-law suggested a last minute NYC weekend, I was thrilled! I haven't been to the Big Apple since I was pregnant with Belle. This time, I was able to experience the city in a whole new way. You know, walking. HA! If you have had a bowling ball in your midsection, you know what I mean...
We stayed in Times Square, and I'm not sure I would do that again. It just gets so crowded. We had a subway stop underneath our hotel, so that was great. Here is the map of our activities:
Our room gave us an amazing view of everything and the Hershey Store! The first stop? The first stop was food...obviously. I wanted to try all of the things. My niece had heard of another amazing rooftop bar, Salvation Taco, with tacos from a Michelin star chef. Here's a funny story, I sort of forgot my drivers license. I wasn't able to actually GO onto the rooftop. Insert eye roll. DUH!
The next stop was Vu bar. Yes, it's at a La Quinta. Don't let that stop you. It has great happy hour specials, and it has a rooftop bar view of the Empire State building. Kind of amazing. My quick thinking hubby texted me a pic of said license. Seriously, forgets that?! The bouncer took pity on me.
Next up was KoreaTown. It was so fun. If you have never been to a Korean beauty store, you should. It is quite an experience! We also tried something called a Mama Bunn which is, basically, bulgogi, in a tasty bun. It was in a cute little food court tucked into the middle of the street. Korea town is literally a street, but it is so fun. For the adventurous traveler in Seoul, do Korean karaoke. It is SO MUCH FUN! Not at all like American style, you get a private room, and someone brings you booze. #winning.
According to everyone's fitness trackers, we easily walked 12 miles every day. I would not have made it without my Allbirds. I do not work with this company at all, but these shoes are amazing.
This was about as close as we got to the Statue of Liberty. The lines were just too long, and we didn't have a ton of time.

Would you be surprised if I told you that the next stop was food? Well? We needed to eat dinner?! TeeHEE you thought I was kidding about trying all of the things. The next stop can't be overemphasized. You must "go to there". Its called Eataly. Think department store meets gourmet market meets multiple restaurants. Any description that I give cannot do it justice, but you must go. Truly. I even went back to get cookies to send to my grandmother.

Next up, and I was SUPER excited about it from Facebook. Folks meet Do. The line can get quite long, so I was prepared to skip it, but apparently no one else wants cookie dough at 11 am. It's really rich, and I could only eat a couple of bites, but it was delicious.
In Chinatown, you can find the cutest place called the Canal St Market and food hall. Sadly, I couldn't eat anything at this point, but on my next trip I absolutely want to go back. The artisans provided a very cool shopping experience too!

I had never been to the Highline before, and it really is something. There is something strangely beautiful about a garden path above the streets of NYC. If you run into the La NewYorkina Mexican ices & sweets cart, try it. So refreshing!
Ok, so Chelsea Market. Part urban flea market, sample sale site (!), and varied cuisine food hall, it is truly one of the best all in one stops in the city. I even scored a fun jumpsuit that is totally outside of my comfort zone. Not to mention the "dressing room" where everyone just gets naked to try on clothes.
Central Park was sooooo beautiful. I was like, a park? Meh. I'm so glad I went, and I hope to explore some more at a later time. There were all of these cool paths to climb, but I wasn't too psyched about hanging around after dark.
That's pretty much it. What? Not enough? HA! I really want to go back this fall and take Clara to a show. Pretty much the only thing that I didn't do, that I would really love to do!
